Supercan Bullysticks Recalls Pig Ear Pet Treats Due to Salmonella Risk

Supercan Bullysticks, a pet treat company based in Miami, Florida, has issued a recall for one lot of its Supercan Pig Ear Slivers – Thick Cut Piggy Ear Slices due to potential contamination with Salmonella. The affected products were sold in 500-piece, 15.9 oz bags and have an expiration date of 11/09/2026.
The recalled pet treats were distributed through a North 40 store located in Washington State starting April 11, 2024. Consumers can identify the affected lot by checking the expiration date on the back side of the product packaging.
Pets that consume food contaminated with Salmonella can experience symptoms such as lethargy, fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or bloody diarrhea. Some pets may show only mild signs like decreased appetite or abdominal pain. Even pets that do not appear sick can still spread the infection to other animals or humans. Pet owners who observe these symptoms should contact a veterinarian.
Salmonella can also pose a risk to humans handling contaminated pet products, particularly if proper hygiene is not followed. Symptoms of Salmonella infection in people can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and fever. In rare cases, the infection can lead to more serious health issues such as arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis. Individuals who develop symptoms after handling the recalled product should seek medical attention.
The contamination was identified after the Washington State Department of Agriculture collected and tested samples of the product on March 4, 2025. The samples tested positive for Salmonella. To date, no illnesses related to the recalled treats have been reported.
Consumers are urged not to sell, donate, or feed the recalled product to pets or any other animals. Instead, the treats should be securely discarded to prevent access by children, pets, or wildlife. Customers may also return the product to the place of purchase for a refund. It is important to wash and sanitize hands, pet bowls, cups, and any surfaces that came into contact with the recalled product.
For more information or to request a refund, consumers can contact Supercan Bullysticks at (689) 808-5419 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday.
