Dogs and Labradors Obedience Training – My 6 month old male Labrador continues to pee in the house.
My 6 month old male Labrador continues to pee in the house. He gives no warning such as sniffing around or even squatting or lifting his leg, He just starts peeing in a squiggly line as he walks. He knows after he’s done it that it’s bad and heads for the door, but doesn’t go to the door beforehand. He’s also been known to pee on the couch and beds. When he needs to poop, he will go to the door and whine. When he has to be in his crate over night or during the day (4 hour max during the day so far) he never has an accident, so I know he can hold it. What gives and how can I correct his behavior?
Hi and thanks for your question – you are actually doing well in the obedience training process. I would actually check that your dog does not have a Urinary Tract Infection or anything else that might be causing this problem as it might be due to a medical problem rather than a behavioral problem. The reason I say this is that he is managing to remain house trained throughout the day and night and seems unusual for a dog to pee when he walks – so check it out with your vet and get back to us of you are still having problems after a check up.
