  • You should wash the infected area thoroughly with cold water. Don’t use hot water as this can increase the need to itch.
  • We know it is really hard but it is important that you don’t itch or scratch the bite. Try placing a cold press or pack on the bite as this may help with the itching.
  • Calamine lotion is a good way of relieving the itching

Home Remedies for Treating your Dog

  • Place some eucalyptus oil, tea tree, citronella or lavender on a non leather collar, he will need to be wearing a bandanna.
  • Cut some lemon into quarter, boil and leave over night. Now when cold place in a bottle and spray over your dog’s infected area.
  • After you have washed your dog, rinse your dog with some water but put a couple of drops of lavender or tea tree oil in with the water as you rinse him off.

Treating Sand Flea Bites

A nice day at the beach has turned nasty and you have some bites, here’s how to treat them.

  1. These bites are not normally dangerous but can be annoying.
  2. Bath the infected area in some oatmeal that you have put in a bath
  3. Make up a paste of some water and baking soda and spread over the area.
  4. Aloe Vera gel has a great soothing affect on sand flea bites.
  5. You can also try taking some ibuprofen (ask your doctor.)
