Rottweiler Health Problems

• Although it isn’t really a health problem it is useful to remember that this breed do have a habit of shedding allot of hair. Their coat is quite short and coarse and get everywhere, on clothes, furniture and the carpet so if you have allergies or are particularly house proud this breed may not be for you.

• Rottweiler health problems can include joint and bone problems which can be a result of genetics or due to a poor diet. Consequently feeding your dog the right and best dog food is very important.

• Rottweilers do tend to be more prone to getting cancer so you need to be aware and get regular check ups for your pooch.

• Heart and respiratory problems also affect this breed.

• Elbow dysplasia often referred to as CHD or Canine Hip and Elbow Dysplasia – this is when the hip joints have not developed properly.

• This breed are also probe to epilepsy.

• Gastric torsion is another health problem that you need to be aware of.

• Entropion can affect Rottweilers – this is when the border of the eyelid turns inward against the eyeball.

• Training Rottweilers is important for their health and general wellbeing and is as important as training any other breed but due to their size strangers may feel slightly intimidated. This breed need to know that you are the boss and pack leader. • As you can see the small and large puppies above are very cute – but they dog get big! An average sized Rottweiler can grow to a hight o5 25-27 inches (63-68 cm) and a weight of 90-110 pounds (41-50 kg).

• This breed are born with tails but they are often docked at the first joint.

• Although this breed does get a bad press, they are naturally quite a calm dog. They do crave allot of attention and if they don’t get it they will be seeking it.

• This breed don’t often bark but if they feel threatened or intimidated they may go very quiet before they attack.

• This breed need to be well socialized from an early age and with as many experiences as possible.
